In 2012, a devastating alien invasion occurred, claiming the life of a young pilot. Three years later, the surviving pilot seeks revenge, piloting the powerful Slasher spaceship.

Nexzr is a classic shoot-em-up game where players control a spaceship and fight through waves of alien enemies. The game features power-ups to enhance the ship’s weapons, as well as challenging boss battles. Players must navigate through stages, avoiding obstacles and defeating enemies to progress.

Nexzr is an absolute masterpiece of a vertical Shoot Em Up. Hitting all the benchmarks you’d expect, great graphics, large sprites, Redbook CD audio, fantastic game-play, and anime style cut-scenes. What really makes it special is just how extremely polished and well designed it all is. Add to that the use of special graphical effects rarely seen on the console or anywhere else. Right off the bat, you are greeted with huge battleships warping in during the first level, with explosions off in the distance adding to the sense of scale. There’s good reason original copies of this one go for several hundreds of dollars online, it really is that awesome. Nexzr easily stands at the top of legendary Shooter status right alongside Sapphire and others. A must have game for every shooter fan and/or Duo owner, hands down. Simply Amazing.

Worth noting there is also an “arcade” screen option which uses the console’s higher resolution mode. Even if the sprites do get compressed it’s still cool to see and gives you the arcade vertical screen feel.
