The final Ys game appearing on the console. It’s a definite high point of the series, great story, beautiful graphics, amazing soundtrack, anime style cut-scenes, cool levels and bosses. Everything you could want in an Ys game in it’s most refined and well made pixel art goodness. Since it was released later on in the system’s life cycle it was unfortunately not brought out in the West. Crazy frustrating at the time but understandable in retrospect as there is extensive voice-acting throughout. Thankfully, this game can finally be enjoyed by non Japanese speakers as fans took it upon themselves to not only translate the text but even overdub all the voice acting! At long last, Ys IV is available in English and fully playable to be enjoyed in all it’s glory. Hands down the best of the original “bump-attack” style. While I take no credit for the game’s translation, I did translate the back cover art to go with it.
