Heart of the Alien is the sequel to the classic sci-fi adventure game, Out of This World. The story continues directly from the first game, with the player taking control of Buddy, the alien protagonist. Buddy must navigate through a dangerous alien world, using his powerful whip to overcome obstacles and enemies, to free his enslaved people and find a way to send his human companion, Lester, back home.

The Sega CD version of Heart of the Alien includes the original Out of This World game on the same disc, allowing players to experience both games in a seamless way.
