Mortal Kombat is a fighting game where players choose from a roster of unique warriors to battle each other in one-on-one combat. The story revolves around an ancient tournament where the fate of Earthrealm hangs in the balance. A powerful sorcerer, Shang Tsung, seeks to conquer Earthrealm by winning ten consecutive tournaments. The game features iconic characters like Liu Kang, Sonya Blade, and Scorpion, each with their own fighting style and special moves. One of the game’s most distinctive features is the ability to perform gruesome finishing moves called “Fatalities.” Mortal Kombat gained notoriety for its realistic violence and digitized graphics, pushing the boundaries of video game content at the time.
