Aarbron, a young boy, was kidnapped and transformed into a monstrous warrior under the control of the evil Beast Lord, Maletoth. After witnessing the sacrifice of his own father, Aarbron breaks free from Maletoth’s control and embarks on a quest for vengeance and redemption.
Shadow of the Beast is a challenging side-scrolling platformer where players control Aarbron as he fights through dangerous levels filled with enemies and traps. The game features limited moves and a single life, emphasizing precise timing and strategic use of abilities. Players must navigate through intricate levels, collect power-ups, and defeat powerful bosses to progress.
Probably one of the best, if not the actual best, ports of the infamously challenging and surrealistic side scroller action game. The Euro-style gameplay might not be for everyone but it’s damn impressive from a technical standpoint, visually with a level of detail and depth, line scrolling, sizable sprites, rich color, sonically vibrant, tight control for what it is, and even includes well rendered video cinematics.
