The game challenges players to rescue Lemmings across 100 (or more?) levels filled with hazards. Players don’t directly control individual Lemmings, which move blindly, but instead use a cross-hair to select a Lemming and assign it a specific skill from a provided set at the bottom of the screen. These skills include actions like climbing, floating, and bashing, which are necessary to navigate obstacles and guide a required percentage of Lemmings to safety in each level. Each level presents a unique combination of available skills, the number of Lemmings, and the target rescue percentage.
This PC-Engine CD port is a fantastic version with a full Redbook CD audio soundtrack and that ever enjoyable, timeless Lemmings gameplay. It even features the original intro! Worth noting is that this game is fully playable in English even though it was a Japanese release.
