In the RPG Madou Monogatari I: Honoo no Sotsuenji (Sorcery Saga I: The Fiery Kindergarten Graduation), the player assumes the role of Arle, a young apprentice sorceress preparing for her critical examination: a journey through the treacherous Tower of Satan where she must defeat enemies and navigate obstacles using her magic. Despite featuring characters from the Puyo Puyo series, the core gameplay is a first-person, 3D dungeon crawl. The game combines role-playing elements with some unique twists. For example, there are no numeric stats; instead, everything is represented by character facial expressions and sprites. Another is the complete lack of physical attacks. Everything utilizes one of four magical elements: Fire, Ice Storm, Thunder, and Bayoen. Some enemies are weaker against one particular magic attack than another. Made by the legendary COMPILE! also known for their high quality Shoot Em Ups.
