Double Dragon II: The Revenge for the PC Engine CD is a unique version of the game as it’s basically a remaster of the NES port rather than a direct arcade-to-home conversion. That being said, it’s one of the few Beat Em Ups for the system. Not only that, it’s one of the few that has both 2-player co-op and the ability to pick up & use a variety of weapons. While it may not be “arcade perfect” it is still a really great rendition of the game, especially to anyone fond of and familiar with the NES version. More colorful graphics, larger sprites, tight game-play, Redbook CD music, punchy sound effects, and anime style cut-scenes make full use of the hardware.
