Last Alert [Red Alert]

Last Alert TurboGrafx-CD Reproduction

Last Alert or Red Alert as it was known in Japan, is an overhead Run and Gun style game with a Rambo-esque protagonist named Guy Kazama. Certainly a product of the time, in both theme and style, but a totally competent entry in this type of military arcade-like action game. Like Bloody Wolf (HuCard) on steroids. All in all pretty decent especially considering it was one of earliest launch titles for the console that still manages to make good use of the CD format in terms of content. With expansive, enemy-filled, non-linear levels; Redbook audio music; anime style cut-scenes; etc.. All this on regular CD and not a Super CD too. While it’s not a legendary, ground-breaking classic like some other titles, it is a fondly remembered classic for many a fan of the TurboGrafx-16 and still worth playing today. If your idea of fun is less sneaking around avoiding enemies and more dive in head-first guns blazing One Man Army style than this game has you covered. Also, the English dub voice acting is so-bad-it’s-good hilarious!

With a Super Weapon called Indra, a group of four extremely evil and powerful individuals known as The Force plans to rule the globe in the not-too-distant future. You can stop these terrible guys because you are Guy Kazama, a general-purpose badass soldier. Before the Indra is fully operational, you must eliminate all of the conspirators one by one and destroy it.

The shooter game Last Alert is played from the top down. You control Guy across over 20 stages, shooting anything that stands in your way.
