Set in a futuristic city under siege by an evil mastermind, Mad Stalker is a side-scrolling mecha brawler where players pilot powerful “Slave Gears” to dismantle a robotic uprising. Players select from three distinct pilots—Chico Rodrigues, Richard Winston, or Eve Lurdia—each offering a unique balance of speed and strength. The gameplay unfolds across six linear stages, requiring the player to defeat waves of hostile machines and formidable bosses using a versatile move set of jumps, kicks, throws, and use of weapons. Beyond the primary campaign, the title features a versus mode that allows one or two players to duel using either the protagonist mechas or the enemy robots encountered throughout the game.
Truly fantastic game and an immediate good time. If you love mecha anime and Beat Em Ups give this one a go! Interestingly, some of the controls behave more like fighting game mechanics. Very challenging enemy AI as well, but in a good way. A well polished and unique title for a system especially limited in Beat Em Ups. The Japanese Cyberpunk style of the game is top notch as well and ages like fine wine. Sleeper hit? An Arcade Card hidden gem perhaps and a must have for fans of the game & genre. A rare port of a game too which didn’t see wide release on other consoles from what I gather outside of Japanese PC and the previously unreleased Sega MD port which only just came out recently. A personal fave that I discovered much later than other games in the library and was shocked at what I had been missing out on for years.
