Macross 2036 PC Engine CD Reproduction
Macross 2036 is a Shoot Em Up based on the classic Macross anime and one of my personal favorites for the system. While to the average gamer this may just be another great Shooter on a console that has so many, to any anime fan & especially Macross fan this game is a god-send. An original story made for the game featuring expertly done anime style cut-scenes throughout w/ the original character designer, Haruhiko Mikimoto involved, actual sound effects right from the anime, a matching Redbook audio CD soundtrack, source accurate mechanical design, you name it. It’s probably one of the best anime themed games ever made in any format from any time period. Yes, the game-play is very much the usual shooter formula, but it is done by Masaya who are experts in the field so you know it plays perfectly, has great graphics, full of parallax, tons of enemy sprites, and large bosses. There are also unique elements like the between level upgrades shop and the switch to humanoid mecha form during boss battles where even the game-play itself changes to a Forgotten Worlds format – you rotate either clockwise or counter clockwise to change your aim. All together, it’s a must have Shoot Em Up in my book and not to be missed.
