Super Raiden PC Engine CD Reproduction
Raiden really needs no introduction to anyone who frequented arcades in their heyday. Super Raiden is quite possibly the best arcade to home conversion we ever got in it’s release period. Taking the already solid HuCard version and kicking things up a notch with the CD format with better sound effects, an excellent Redbook audio arranged soundtrack and additional levels. Obviously this game also looks and plays absolutely fantastic. Huge scrolling levels, sharp colorful graphics, and deadly bosses. Raiden is one of those perfect games that defined the vertical Shoot Em Up and has had a lasting influence on the genre. Is it frustratingly difficult at times? of course! but so are most Shoot Em Ups to be honest. For this particular title probably a hold-over from the typical arcade style of being quarter munching by design. So, yes this version nails it in every respect and the challenge just adds to the replay value. A must own for Shoot Em Up fans.
